With a strong attachment to their towns or districts, some communities in Latvia have developed various initiatives for a sustainable local economy and to counteract the prevailing concentration of resources in regional centres. The initiatives range from independent schools to the reduction of heating costs through technological innovation and sustainable local resources.

A pervasive challenge is finding funding for these initiatives, even though it is more often a question of knowing where to look because a range of opportunities to get support is available.

Latvian Green Movement can help communities and initiatives find the right programme or donor to apply for funding.
